A man reported to be in his sixty’s by law enforcement stated that he drove from the Lobelia area to the McDonald’s on Monroe Street in Carthage Saturday night even though his Silverado pickup was missing the front tire and the rear tire was blown on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The driver is reported to have screeched to a stop feet from the front door of the local restaurant and was inside at the counter attempting to place an order when law enforcement arrived moments later.
Amazingly the front rim managed to stay on the truck even as it was being ground down by the asphalt as the man drove.
Moore County EMS was called to evaluate the man before transporting him to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital by ambulance with a Carthage Police Officer in the ambulance with the EMS staff.
Officers could be seen conducting a search of the vehicle and placing items in evidence bags while the truck was still parked in front of the business.
Responding to this incident were units with Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the Carthage Police Department.
