Ione Gibson sold lemonade and sweets in order to raise money for Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services. Ione, a student and member of the very successful Pet Responsibility program, took time out to raise money intended to help Moore County Animals.
Ione visited Sheriff Godfrey and his Team to personally hand over her earnings. Sheriff Godfrey, Captain Furr, Lieutenant Kirk and Angela Zumwalt were on hand to welcome Ione and provide her a personal tour of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services facility.
Ione named a few of our new visitors, receive a stuffed animal and looked at furry-candidates as “potential” new additions to the Gibson Family.
The Moore County Citizens’ Pet Responsibility Committee education program is presented primarily as an integral part of the Moore County Schools’ Character Education Program which focuses on good judgment, integrity, kindness, perseverance, respect and responsibility and is linked to NC state standards. The backbone of the program is a strong volunteer base that presents a six-session program to each 4th Grade class annually.
“We can’t thank Ione and the Gibson family enough for partnering with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office in addressing the Animal Service needs of Moore County. Her actions are selfless and inspirational for all” Sheriff Godfrey said.
