Two people were airlifted to a Trauma Center following a shooting outside of Cameron Saturday afternoon.
Emergency officials were dispatched at 12:42 pm to a home on Helen Lane off of Atkins Road to a reported shooting incident .
The first arriving medical unit requested helicopters be dispatched to transport the man and woman who were shot to a Trauma Center. The male victim had reportedly suffered a gunshot injury to the head with the female victim suffering a wound to the neck area. One of the victims was reported to be in critical condition.
The two victims were transported from the scene by ambulance to a landing zone that had been established a short distance away on Atkins road to meet two helicopters.
Multiple law enforcement units responded to the scene of the shooting, however the suspects had reportedly fled prior to their arrival.
According to a release sent out by Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields this was not a random act of violence, as it is believed that all parties involved were of at least minimal acquaintance.
Sheriff Fields stated that two persons of interest have been identified and are in custody at this time. The crime scene is still currently active, and multiple witnesses are being interviewed to hopefully shed some light on what led to the shooting.
The names of the victim’s involved have been withheld pending notifications of family members.
Responding to this incident were units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Cameron Police Department, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
