The driver of a vehicle escaped serious injury when his Dodge Power Wagon overturned outside of Pinehurst Wednesday night.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 12:15 am to US Highway 15-501 in the area of Tommy’s Crown gas station and Lea Road for a reported vehicle accident.
According to emergency officials the driver was able to get out of the overturned vehicle before the arrival of emergency responders with the assistance from bystanders that had stopped to help.
The man suffered minor injuries that were not life-threatening in the single vehicle accident.
One lane of US Highway 15-501 was closed to traffic in the northbound direction for a brief time period while the man was assisted and the debris removed from the roadway.
Officials at the scene stated that the driver said that he a swerved to miss a deer and lost control of the vehicle before running off of the road and overturning.
Responding to the accident were units with Pinehurst Fire Department, Eastwood Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
