A single-story home outside of Carthage was heavily damaged by a structure fire Friday night.
Emergency responders were dispatched just before 9:00 pm to a possible structure fire in the 200 block of Kelly Road outside of Carthage.
The first arriving fire unit reported heavy flames and smoke showing from the right side and the rear of the home.
Residents of the home were able to get out of the house before the arrival of emergency responders and were uninjured in the fire.
Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control less than an hour after arriving on the scene, however remained at the location an extended time into the evening performing salvage and overhaul while ensuring the fire was completely extinguished.
Kelly Road was closed to traffic in both directions this evening while firefighters worked to put out the fire.
Responding to this fire were units with Carthage Fire & Rescue, Whispering Pines Fire & Rescue, Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the fire was not known as of this report.
