The driver escaped serious injury after her passenger car overturned in a single vehicle accident in Southern Pines Thursday night.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 10:26 pm to reports of an overturned vehicle in the 500 block of South Knoll Road a short distance off of Felton Caple Lane.
The first arriving emergency unit reported a Toyota Matrix passenger car overturned on its rooftop with the driver already out of the vehicle.
The vehicle had ran off of the right side of the road into a steep ditch during the accident causing the vehicle to overturn.
After being assessed by paramedics the young female driver refused treatment or transport remaining at the scene of the accident where she was speaking with law enforcement. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Both lanes of South Knoll Road were temporarily blocked by the emergency vehicles and wreckage debris causing the roadway to be closed to traffic for a brief time period.
Responding to the accident were units with Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, NC State Highway Patrol, and the Southern Pines Police Department.
As of this report the accident remained under investigation by officers with Southern Pines Police Department.
This was one of several vehicle accidents to happen across Moore County on Thursday including the fatal accident west of Seven Lakes shortly before 8:00 am Thursday morning; as well as accidents in Robbins, Carthage, Vass, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen today.
