Sandhills Tree 300x250

Robbins is Rising! Robbins received a gross total of over $35,000 in donations and pledges as a result of their Community Development Fundraiser in Robbins on Saturday, March 10th at Elise Middle School.

Over 130 people attended the event designed to build community and raise funds for community development projects in Robbins.

Town Manager David Lambert explained that while Robbins continues to face very difficult economic challenges as a result of N.C.’s economic policies Robbins is looking for ways to invest in itself. “As Robbins positions itself for an economic comeback, we have worked to change the hearts and minds of people in Robbins to accept that change is possible. We will no longer accept our current economic condition as final. While Robbins faces many economic obstacles, this Board and this community will not settle for anything less than our best. Our struggles will dictate our strategy, but they will no longer define us.”

Lambert explained that in the last two years Robbins has seen six new businesses open up in Robbins and the Town anticipates three new businesses to open in the coming months. Town leaders have expanded the tax base and identified key areas for improvement and investment. Lambert said one of the major tasks of the Town is “changing hearts and minds of our people to accept that change is possible.” Lambert said, “Despite economic hardships we encountered in the 1990’s Robbins has a history of being a success. We will see success again and we will be the change we want to see. We must embody that change each and every single day.”

Robbins is incredibly grateful to their donors in this project. Robbins received an anonymous Platinum-level donation and an additional Platinum sponsorship from Pine Funeral Homes. Gold Sponsors were Ace Hardware, Cooper Ford, Salt & Pepper Catering, and SCM Plumbing. Randolph Electric Membership Corporation and St. Joseph Of The Pines were Silver Sponsors. The following were Bronze Sponsors: BSM Hauling, Cardno, Inc., Central Farmers Mutual Ins., First Bank, John & Cara Maness, Laura B. Brady Accounting & Income Tax Service, Lonnie & Brenda English, N.M. Family Resource Center, Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Thigpen & Jenkins, LLP. And The Wooten Company.
