Walter Ernest Love, Jr. 79 of Carthage passed away on October 21, 2017 at Pine Lake Health Care and Rehabilitation in Carthage.

Born on August 30, 1938 in Moore County to the late Walter and Mary Jane Love.

Walter was raised in Carthage and was a graduate of Carthage High School. In the early stages of life, Walter had a couple occupations and then chose to become self -employed. He worked actively in the Moore County area to maintain yards, cut and delivered firewood and home grown fruits and vegetables during season. Walter never met a stranger; he would frequently visit gas stations near and far just to get a cup of coffee. There he would sit and speak with random people. Who knows what mark he left on their lives.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Stewart Love; one son, Kevin Eugene Love and six brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three children, Charles Jeffrey Love (Lois), Reba Love Flores (Luis) and Jason Brian Love (Ashley); daughter-in-law, Anita Howie Love; one sister, Myrtle Love Presley; four grandchildren, Nikki, Becky, Stephanie and Braeden; also survived by several great grandchildren and other family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:00PM at Summerhill Baptist Church in Carthage. Interment Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
