Mark Hunter Gentry, 61 of Southern Pines, passed away on October 19, 2017 at his home.
Born on February 24, 1956 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late William Hunter and Frances Gentry.
Mark proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the military he began working on computers. His love of the mechanics of computers continued after his retirement with a second career working for both Progress Duke Energy and also as a contractor on Ft. Bragg as a network engineer.
Mark was a family man who loved to laugh and have a good time with family and friends. He also enjoyed going to the movies and watching the Carolina Hurricanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Paul Hunter Gentry.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michie Gentry; one daughter, Emi Gentry; brother, Eric Gentry and his wife, Karen of MD; also survived by mother-in-law, Yoshi Takahashi.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00AM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with a memorial service following at 11:00AM with full military honors.
