The Aberdeen Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery of the Dunkin’ Donuts Monday night.
Law enforcement was called to the business located at 1798 N. Sandhills Boulevard shortly after 10:00 pm to reports of an armed robbery.
According to police officials an employee with Dunkin’ Donuts was working to prepare items for the next day’s business when she heard noises coming from outside of the backdoor. While approaching the door the employee was met by what she described as two armed males wearing hoodies with their faces covered and wearing gloves.
The two men reportedly attempted to access the safe of the business but were unsuccessful and fled out the back door of the business while the employee fled out the front door calling 911.
The woman working at the business was shaken up but uninjured in the incident according to police.
Video surveillance from the business is currently being obtained for review by police detectives to be able to provide a better description of the suspects and their clothing. Officers were also working to determine how the perpetrators gained entry into the business.
