A 49 year old Robbins woman lost her life in a single vehicle accident outside of Carthage Saturday morning.
Emergency responders were called out just before 7:30 am to a report of a vehicle that had ran off of the road and struck a tree on NC Highway 24/27 near Myrick Road.
The first emergency personnel to reach the wreck location advised that the driver was pinned inside of a Chevrolet Trail Blazer that had sustained heavy damage.
Shortly after arriving paramedics determined the woman was deceased at the scene of the accident.
Officials identified the victim as Marion Mabe McCall from a Spies Road address in Robbins.
McCall had reportedly gotten up early to take a family member to work and was returning home when the accident occurred.
NC Highway 24/27 was closed to traffic in both directions by this accident for more than an hour and a half before reopening at 9:00 am.
Responding to this incident were units with Carthage Fire & Rescue, Robbins Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Public Safety, NC Medical Examiner’s Office, Carthage Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
The accident remained under investigation as of this report.
This was the second fatal wreck in Moore County this week following a two vehicle fatal collision on US Highway 15-501 in Carthage this past Tuesday morning that killed a Pinehurst man and injured three others.
