Entering into the July 4th holidays the Moore County Sheriff’s Department sponsored a day of traffic related enforcement operations including a speed saturation operation during the afternoon and a DWI/Traffic Enforcement Checkpoint Friday night.
Starting at 4:00 pm Friday afternoon officers from multiple different law enforcement agencies conducted combined speed enforcement operations on NC Highway 211 between Pinehurst and West End.
According to Sheriff’s Department officials this area was targeted due to the high number of complaints from citizens of people driving too fast on this area of highway between the two towns.
A total of 58 citations were issued during the traffic enforcement operation.
Officers representing 3 different counties and 7 different agencies setup a checkpoint in both the northbound and southbound lanes of US Highway 1 at the Moore County and Richmond County line south of Pinebluff from 11:00 pm until 3:00 am Friday night.
Charges filed at tonight’s checkpoint included 4 drug violations, 3 open container violations, 9 driving while license revoked, 6 no operator’s license, 1 inspection violation, 6 registration violations, 2 no insurance, 2 child restraint seat violations, 1 window tint violation and 1 order for arrest.
Agencies involved included the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Carthage Police Department, Pinehurst Police Department, Aberdeen Police Department, Hamlet Police Department, Laurinburg Police Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
Also participating in Fridays operation was the “BAT Mobile” one of the State of North Carolina’s mobile DWI testing buses that is outfitted to perform breathalyzer test at the location of the checkpoint.
