Jack E. Fathauer, age 92, died Thursday, June 29, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Fathauer was born March 4, 1925 in St. Louis, MO.
He graduated from University City Senior High in University City, MO. He was an All American football player at Iowa State and graduated with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. Jack enlisted in the Navy February 25, 1943 and was promoted to Lieutenant (jg) December 31, 1948.
He worked for three decades with Midland Ross Corporation, later bought by Youngstown Steel Door Co. He left to become Director of Sales at Aeroglide Co and retired from there in 1988.
Jack met his wife Mary Walker at Iowa State University and they were married before his tour of duty in WWII. Following the war they lived in Chesterland, OH where their three children were born. The Fathauers next lived in Roxboro and Raleigh, NC before retiring to Seven Lakes, NC.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary. He is survived by two sons, James M Fathauer of Seven Lakes, NC and Robert L Fathauer of Emerald Isle, NC and a daughter Nancy Astill (Luke) of Narromine, NSW, Australia; six grandchildren Rachel Belcher (Andy), Bill Fathauer, Meredith Fathauer, Kate Astill, Bridget Astill, Ben Astill; and two great-grandchildren Andrew and Jack.
Services will be private. He will be laid to rest with his wife Mary at the West End Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
