A teenage male reported to be a high school student at Chatham Central High School was pinned in his Ford Expedition Thursday morning after running off the road and striking a tree in Moore County. The accident happened on Putnam-Glendon Road around 7:00 am.
It took emergency responders almost an hour to cut the victim from his mangled SUV with the roof and door being cut from the vehicle before emergency responders used chains and hydraulic powered rescue tools to pull the dash of the vehicle off of the victim.
The man was transported from the scene by ambulance before being loaded onto a helicopter to be airlifted to a Trauma Center.
Putnam-Glendon Road was closed to traffic in both directions for an extended time period while the victim was freed from the wrecked vehicle.
Responding to this accident were units with High Falls Fire & Rescue, Carthage Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the NC State Highway Patrol.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation by law enforcement as of this report.
