Emergency responders were dispatched around 2:45 pm Wednesday to a structure fire at a home on Lena Circle off of Carolina Road in Aberdeen.
The first arriving fire official reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the home. Firefighters immediately began an attack on the fire, and after being notified that there were two small family dogs in the home they also began searching to find the dogs.
A short time after beginning the search one of the two dogs was found alive inside of the house. While Moore County Paramedics were administering oxygen to the first dog firefighters continued the search and found the second dog still alive as well and immediately rushed the shivering animal to rescuers.
The fire was eventually brought under control with the efforts of firefighters, however the home was heavily damaged.
Units from multiple stations were dispatched to assist with this fire including Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Pinehill Fire Department, Fort Bragg Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the Moore County Public Safety Fire Marshal’s Office
The cause of the fire was not known as of this report.
