Star – James Alexander Black, age 67, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at his home
Mr. Black was born in Cook County, Illinois on November 17, 1951, to Hilton Monroe and Mary Margie Black. He was a professor of Automotive Technology at Sandhills Community College. He was a veteran of the US Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Jody Black; granddaughter, Ava Lawing; and brother, Jeff Black.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Kern Black, of the home; daughters, Katie Black of Knightdale and Elizabeth Trent of Star; sons, Jason Black of Myrtle Beach, SC and Alex Black (Krystle) of Star; sister, Jennifer Williams (Jeff) of Cameron; eight grandchildren, Jordyn, Noah, Sophie, Lily, Emily, Harper, Nora, and Evelyn.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 30, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Star Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cotton Creek Road, Star with Rev. Dr. Bruce Lax officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
